ICDAR is a leading and highly successful conference series that is the largest and most important international gathering for researchers, academics and professionals in the document analysis community. The conference was approved by IAPR-TC 10/11 and was established almost three decades ago. The 15th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2019) was hosted by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia and was held at the International Convention Center (ICC) in Sydney. Accepted papers are published by the Conference Publishing Service (CPS) and are available in the IEEE Xplore digital library.
Dematerialization of Documents
Dematerialization and digitization are two words that are often used, in the context of document management , as synonyms. In reality, they can (almost) not be regarded as equivalent at all. Also because, nowadays, we should only talk about the digitization of documents .
In any case, to ensure clarity and simplicity, in this study we will continue to keep separate dematerialization and digitization, specifying all the distinctive elements of both.
In 2021, at the 16th edition of this emblematic conference, it was realized that will be the first one, which will take place in Switzerland.
All events organized within ICDAR 2021 are safe and protected from the global crisis of COVID-19. If necessary, ICDAR 2021 with “virtual” remote participation capabilities will be implemented. All accepted papers will be published in the ICDAR 2021 Proceedings, whether the conference is held physically or not.
When we study a document, we do it from two points of view:
On the one hand, we look at its external part, that is, at the documentary support. We call this Formal or External Analysis. It helps us to identify a document within a collection. On the other hand, we analyze the content of the document, that is, we study its message, the subject it deals with. This part is known as Content Analysis or Internal. Document Analysis allows us to perform retrospective searches and retrieve the document we need when we need it. Therefore, we can say that Documentary Analysis is linked to Information Retrieval.
